Jan Kučera ranks among Czech conductors and composers of the youngest generation. He only introduced himself at the musical life in 2000. In his activities, he constantly focuses on conducting, composing and instrumentation. As a conductor, he has been working with Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra since 2002 as well as other Czech orchestras. Apart from the classical repertoire he performed and/or recorded 50 symphonic works of contemporary Czech and international composers, often as a world premiere. With the Children’s Opera Prague, he recorded the Hans Krása opera Brundibar on a CD and he also performed this piece in Opéra Bastille, Paris. As a composer, he writes both classical and jazz music. He wrote symphonic, chamber and cantata works as well as incidental music for theatres all around the country. He collaborates with Epoque Quartet and he recorded his author CD ‘The State of Weightlessness‘with Epoque and his own jazz piano trio.
