Tenor Petr Nekoranec is one of the most distinct singers of the upcoming generation in the Czech Republic. Since September 2016, Petr attends the Lindemann Program for Young Artist at the Metropolitan Opera. He is the first Czech who has been accepted into this prestigious two-year program. In 2014–2016 he was a member of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, and it’s Opera Studio, where he portrayed several roles, including the title role of Rossini’s Le comte Ory, and Britten’s Albert Herring. The latter role earned him the 2016 Bavarian Art Award.
Petr is also a laureate of several prestigious European singing competitions. Most recently January 2017, he won one of the most prestigious singing competitions – the International Competition of Francesco Viñas which takes place in Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona. He took the first place and also received special prizes from the hands of the legendary Plácido Domingo and the management of Teatro Real de Madrid. In August 2015, Petr made it to the semi-finals of Queen Sonja International Singing Competition. In July 2014, he won the International Singing Competition named after the famous Bulgarian-Austrian soprano Ljuba Welitsch, while in September 2014, he took second place at Concours International de Chant in Toulouse, France, which is considered one of the most demanding singing competitions in the world. At home, he won the Absolute Prize and laureate of the Singing Competition and Festival in Olomouc, and he received the 1st prize for Lieder and 2nd prize for Junior at the International Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary. In the same competition, he took 2nd place in Juniors in 2013, and he also received several other awards, including the Prague Spring Music Festival Prize.
In 2012, Petr sang the role of Vašek at the Children’s Opera Prague production of Smetana’s Bartered Bride under the baton of Jan Chalupecký at the New Scene of the National Theatre in Prague, he sang the tenor part of Mozart’s Requiem with Coro Filarmonico Veneto and Orchestra Regionale Filarmonia Veneta in Italy (conductor: Marco Titotto) as well as the tenor solo of Mozart’s Coronation Mass under the baton of František Šterbák. In 2013, he created the role of Lindoro (Rossini: L’Italiana in Algeri) at the Teatro nuovo di Torino in Italy. In May 2015, he performed at the concert “Adam Plachetka Presents Young Singers” within the Prague Spring Music Festival.
Petr Nekoranec was born on 25th February 1992 in Nové Dvory, Czech Republic. He started his vocal studies at the local Art School in the class of Arnoštka Zemanová. He would often perform at the school concerts, Polná Big Band under the batton of Jiří Šíma, and he participated at many musical festivities. In 2011, he graduated from high school in the City of Čáslav; he often performed as a soloist with the school’s mixed choir. During the same year, he started his classical vocal studies at the Pardubice Conservatory in the class of Jarmila Chaloupková. He also collaborates with the renowned Italian tenor and tutor Antonio Carangelo.
