The phenomenal Turkish pianist Fazil Say has been appointed a EU Cultural Ambassador in 2008 because of his constant efforts for an inner-cultural dialogue between eastern and western countries. Apart from his solo-recitals, he is also a frequent guest at the New York, Israel, St. Petersburg and Czech Philharmonic Orchestras, Orchestre National de France and other renowned orchestras. He performs at festivals in Salzburg, Edinburg, Lucerne, Verbier, Florence, Prague, etc. He also gained renown as a talented composer of number of oratorios, piano concertos, orchestra and chamber compositions and songs. He also composed a ballet titled Patara per order from the City of Vienna to commemorate the Mozart 2006 year. The renowned University of Bahçeşehir in Istanbul named its new concert hall after Fazil Say.
