Lukáš Bařák

In the 2022/23 season, on his home stage, the National Theatre Opera in Prague, the bass-baritone Lukáš Bařák will take on the roles of Masetto (Don Giovanni), Schaunard (La bohème), Marullo (Rigoletto), Fiorello (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Morales (Carmen), Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), An Indian Comedian (The Bartered Bride), A Devil Guard/The Chamberlain (The Devil and Kate) and Mercutio (Romeo and Juliet). He will also guest appear as Small Prisoner and Čekunov (From the House of the Dead) and Schaunard (La bohème) at the National Theatre Brno.

Lukáš Bařák has been a soloist at the Opera of the National Theatre since the 2020/21 season. In 2021, he received Director of the National Theater Award for Artists under 35. He is also a guest soloist of National Theatre Brno, the South-Bohemian Theatre in České Budějovice and the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava. His achievements from the previous seasons include the role of Junius (Britten: The Rape of Lucretia), Konečný (Janáček: The Fate), the baritone character in Tom Johnson’s Four-Note Opera, among others. Lukáš is also a successful concert artist. His oratorio stage experience includes Dvořák’s Te Deum at Janáček’s May Festival, concert performances with Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra, Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic, Brno Philharmonic, Plzeň Philharmonic and the Prague Symphony Orchestra.

In 2018, Lukáš Bařák graduated from the Academy of Music in Prague (class of Ivan Kusnjer), and he took an internship at Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna (class of Margit Klaushofer and Charles Spencer). He also took part in several master classes with Adam Plachetka, Renato Bruson and Regina Köbler. From 2018 to 2020, he was the soloist of the opera in Cologne, where he performed as Papageno in Die Zauberflöte and Morales in Carmen.
