Bryan Hymel

The charismatic American tenor Bryan Hymel has already been guests of the Nachtigall Artists’ World Opera Stars series on 14th February 2016 and on 13th November 2017. With his first notes, he enchanted the audience at the Smetana Hall. Bryan Hymel is rightfully considered the new king of high “Cs” which is validated by one of his reviews: Pavarotti is Over – Bryan Hymel is Here.

Bryan soon received his world renown as he stepped in for his ill colleagues: as Énée in Berlioz’s Les Troyens – one of his signature roles – at the Covent Garden, London (for Jonas Kaufmann) and later at the Metropolitan Opera, New York (for Marcello Giordani). He is a welcome guest not only of the Metropolitan Opera or Covent Garden, but also of the La Scala in Milan, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and Opéra National de Paris. In the 2018/2019 season, his opera roles include Raoul de Nangis (Meyerbeer: Les Huguenots) a Énée (Berlioz: Les Troyens) at the Opéra National de Paris, Arrigo (Verdi: Les vêpres siciliennes) at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Rodolfo (Puccini: La bohème) at the Vienna state Opera, Duke of Mantua (Verdi: Rigoletto) at the Metropolitan Opera and Don José (Bizet: Carmen) in Covent Garden.

The Greek soprano Irini Kyriakidou is the special guest of this concert. Up to now she has  guest appeared at the Greek National Opera in Athens, at Teatro La Fenice in Venice, at the Covent Garden, London or in May 2018, at the Opéra de Las Palmas, Gran Canaria.

The concert is made under the auspices of the Lord mayor of Prague Dr. Zdeněk Hřib.
