Unfortunately, Ms Golda Schultz was taken ill and she had to cancel her performances in Munich, and her concerts in Vienna and Prague. Mr Erwin Schrott, who is looking forward to his Prague audience very much, has decided to include more opera arias from his repertoire, and we believe that you will enjoy the concert in spite of the unfortunate circumstances.
In December 2016, we had a chance to meet Erwin Schrott and his band Rojotango in Prague. He took us on a fascinating trip to the world of the Latin-American tango. This time, Erwin Schrott will perform as an opera singer. Along with the young South African Soprano Golda Schultz, he will perform at the Konzerthaus in Vienna on 2nd April 2018; two days later they will perform at the Smetana Hall in Prague.
Erwin Schrott is one of the most sought-after and most charismatic singers. The gained his renown as a world-class Mozart singer, fascinating Don Giovanni, Leporello, and Figaro. After winning Plácido Domingo’s Operalia in 1998, he soon established himself on the international scene. In a short sequence, he introduced himself in La Scala, Milan; Metropolitan Opera New York, Paris National Opera, Vienna State Opera, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Covent Garden in London, as well as the Salzburg Festival. His engagements for this season include Giovanni de Procida (Verdi: I vespri siciliani) at the Covent Garden and the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Scarpia (Puccini: Tosca), Dulcamara (Donizetti: L’elisir d’amore) and Mefisto (Gounod: Faust) at the Vienna State Opera, Mefisto (Gounod: Faust) at the Bavarian State Opera and the four devilish roles (Offenbach: Les contes d'Hoffmann) in Amsterdam.
Graduate of the prestigious Julliard School in New York and the opera studio of the Bavarian State Opera (2013) Golda Schultz made three very important debuts which brought her the attention of the international scene: in 2015 as Sophie (Strauss: Der Rosenkavalier) at the Salzburg Festival, in June 2016 as Countess Almaviva (Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro) at the Glyndebourne Festival, and in September 2016 as Susanna (Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro) at La Scala, Milan. She makes her debut at the Metropolitan Opera New York on 27th September 2017 as Pamina (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte); the production is broadcasted within the Live in HD project on 14th October 2017.
