The first Prague concert with the phenomenal Joyce DiDonato (at the invitation of Nachtigall Artists on November 5, 2013) was an exceptional experience. She evoked huge volleys of enthusiasm with her dramatic portrayals of baroque queens. “Her recital was an excellent showcase of the very best that a female voice can portray and express.”, wrote the critic of the Hudební rozhledy magazine. We got to know Joyce DiDonato thanks to live broadcasts from the Metropolitan Opera as Rossini's Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Page Isolier (Le comte Ory), Donizetti's Maria Stuart, the witch Sycorax (baroque pasticcio Magical Island) and most recently, on February 29, 2020, as the unsurpassed Handel's Agrippina. Yet, there is nothing like a firsthand experience which will take place on June 13. Along with the respected American pianist Craig Terry, she will present their joint album Songplay. The recording won the Grammy 2020 award for best classical solo vocal album.
Multi Grammy Award winner and 2018 Olivier Award winner, Joyce DiDonato, has been proclaimed “perhaps the most potent female singer of her generation” by The New Yorker. With a voice “nothing less than 24-carat gold” according to The Times, Joyce has performed at the most prestigious opera theatres, gaining international prominence in operas by Handel and Mozart, and is also widely acclaimed for the bel canto roles of Rossini and Donizetti.
Grammy Award winning American pianist Craig Terry enjoys an international career regularly performing with the world’s leading singers and instrumentalists. Currently he serves as Music Director of The Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago after having served for eleven seasons at Lyric as Assistant Conductor. Previously, he served as Assistant Conductor at the Metropolitan Opera after joining its Lindemann Young Artist Development Program.
