One of the greatest opera stars, tenor Juan Diego Flórez returns to Prague! This is the fourth time he accepted the invite of Nachtigall Artists: first, he performed in Prague in December 2012 with pianist Vincenzo Scalera, and they brought a fascinating evening of French and Italian lieder and arias. The second time, in December 2014, he prepared French arias for Prague, with the accompaniment of PKF – Prague Philharmonia. He came to Prague for the third time in October 2017 again with pianist Vincenzo Scalera, and he prepared the Italian and French repertoire for his recital.
In 1996, Flórez made his official operatic debut in Matilde di Shabran at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, where his expressive voice and astonishing agility immediately won him critical accolades. Since then, Flórez has become the tenor of choice in major international theatres and festivals. His most recent role debuts include Raoul de Nangis (Les Huguenots) at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Gennaro (Lucrezia Borgia) in concert performances at the 2017 Salzburg Festival and in a staged production at the Bavarian State Opera, Hoffmann (Les Contes d’Hoffmann) at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo, Ricciardo (Ricciardo e Zoraide) at the 2018 Rossini Opera Festival, Alfredo (La traviata) at the Metropolitan Opera, New York (2019), Des Grieux (Manon) at the Vienna State Opera (2019), Rodolfo (La bohème) at the Zurich Opera in 2020, and Faust (Faust) at the Vienna State Opera (2021).
Juan Diego Flórez will come to Prague again with the renowned Italian pianist Vincenzo Scalera, a famous piano partner to many esteemed singers (Carlo Bergonzi, Andrea Bocelli, Montserrat Caballé, José Carreras, Vittorio Grigolo, Katia Ricciarelli, Sumi Jo, Renata Scotto, Cesare Siepi). This year, they will present lieder and arias of Ludwig van Beethoven, Richard Strauss, Gioachino Rossini, Vincenzo Bellini, Giuseppe Verdi, Jules Massenet, etc.
