One of the most notable talents of today’s opera world – tenor Petr Nekoranec needs no long introductions. He won a number of prestigious vocal competitions. Most recently January 2017, he won one of the most prestigious singing competitions – the International Competition of Francesco Viñas which takes place in Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona. Petr was a member of the Bavarian State Opera and its Opera Studio between 2014 and 2016, where he assumed a number of roles, including the title role of Rossini’s Le Comte Ory, and Britten’s Albert Herring. The latter role earned him the 2016 Bavarian Art Award (received on 28th November). Currently, Petr attends the Lindemann Program for Young Artist at the Metropolitan Opera. He is the first Czech who has been accepted into this prestigious two-year program. Petr Nekoranec studied singing at the Conservatory in Pardubice in the class of prof. Jarmila Chaloupková.
Petr invited two young and talented singers – bass baritones to join him at the New Town City Hall: Lukáš Bařák, student in the class of Ivan Kusnjer at the Prague Music Academy, and Boris Prýgl, student of Musical Arts Scholl in Bratislava in the class of Peter Mikuláš, this year’s finalist of two renowned singing competitions – Belvedere a Operalia (both July 2017); in Operalia, Boris was awarded Plácido Domingo and Birgit Nilsson Prizes.
