Pretty Yende & Boris Prýgl

For the fourth time, we will welcome in Prague the fascinating South African soprano Pretty Yende, who was born in a small South African town of Piet Retief in the province of Mpumalanga. Until she was sixteen, she didn't know anything about the opera! But once she discovered it, she had started methodically to fulfill her dream of singing opera, first in Europe, then in the USA. There she began her incredibly fast journey to the opera top elite with her debut at the New York Metropolitan Opera on January 17, 2013. And in a year, the Nachtigall Artists agency managed to bring a new star to Prague.

Pretty performed with us in January 2014, April 2017 and November 2019 and always dazzled the Prague audience with a sparkling bright soprano, acting charm and a great sense of humor! Pretty Yende is also an avid human rights activist and has set up a youth foundation in South Africa, especially from the marginalized sections of society, giving her hope in her life story for a better future. Pretty is simply an amazing personality!

In Prague, Pretty will be joined by bass baritone Boris Prýgl, one of the most talented young Czech singers. Since the 2019/20 season Boris has been a soloist at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, in the 2021/22 season he will also perform in Prague, at the National Theatre as Guglielmo (Mozart: Così fan tutte).
