During the winter holidays’ season, we are always looking forward to special international guests, to young talents with a promising operatic future. The Association of Friends of Musical Talents and the Nachtigall Artists agency have been cooperating with the Opera Studio at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich for many years. We would also like to mention its Czech participants, Petr Nekoranec and Boris Prýgl. In 2016–18, they were also co-performers – hosting concerts in the beautiful hall of the New Town Hall. Today, we would like to introduce their successors and future colleagues. Especially at this time, it will be very pleasant to hear new voices and see new faces.
New Zealand soprano Eliza Boom has been a member of the Opera Studio at the Bavarian State Opera since the 2020/21 season. In her hometown of Hamilton, she graduated from Vision College and the University of Waikato. She received the prestigious Frederic Cox Award at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
Colombian tenor Andrés Agudelo has been a member of the Opera Studio at the Bavarian State Opera since the 2019/20 season. He graduated from the Queen Sofia School of Music in Madrid and the Paris Conservatory. He co-performed Beethoven's Choral Symphony under the baton of Gustav Dudamel in Bogota and the Great Mass in H Minor by J. S. Bach at the Bach Festival in Leipzig.
British baritone Andrew Hamilton has been a member of the Opera Studio at the Bavarian State Opera since the 2020/21 season. He studied at the University of Southampton and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. In September 2020, he took part in the British Youth Opera production of David Blake's opera Scoring a Century, directed by Keith Warner; he received the Basil and Turner Award for his performance.
British pianist Michael Pandya has been the new accompanist of the Opera Studio at the Bavarian State Opera since the 2019/20 season. He has performed at Wigmore Hall and Barbican Hall in London, and at Klavier-Festival Ruhr in Germany.
The guest of the concert is the Icelandic, and a bit also ours, mezzo-soprano Arnheiður Eiríksdóttir, a soloist of the Opera of the National Theatre in Prague since the 2020/21 season. She graduated from the Conservatory in Reykjavík and the Vienna University für Musik und darstellende Kunst. From 2018 to 2020, she was a member of the Opera Studio at the Cologne Opera. She made her Prague debut at a concert of the Association of Friends of Musical Talents on May 21, 2018 in the New Town Hall.
