Native of San Sebastian, Spain, tenor Xabier Anduaga (*1995) has been taking musical courses since his childhood, as a member of child and later tabernacle choirs. In 2016 he was selected to be part of the Accademia Rossiniana with Alberto Zedda, where he made his international opera debut as Cavalier Belfiore from the opera Il Viaggio a Reims. Later, he made his debuts in Bilbao as Ramiro in La Cenerentola, at Rossini Opera Festival as Adraste in Le Siège de Corinthe; at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées as Lord Arturo in Lucia di Lammermoor; as Conte d’Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia) in Ancona and at the Mikhailovsky theatre of St. Petersburg; in Teatro Colón Buenos Aires as Lindoro in L’italiana in Algeri; in Musikverein, Vienna as Cavalier Belfiore (Il Viaggio a Reims); in Donizetti Opera Festival in Bergamo as Leicester in Il Castello di Kenilworth, etc. The tenor’s future plans include Il barbiere di Siviglia at Opéra National de Paris and Dallas Opera, Arturo in Lucia di Lammermoor at Palau de les Arts in Valencia, La Cenerentola at Hamburgische Staatsoper, among others.
On July 26, Xabier became the wínner of Plácido Domingo’s world opera competition Operalia Prague 2019. Xabier won also the Plácido Domingo Ferrer Zarzuela Prize.
