Zuzana Marková
& Simon Keenlyside
Opera Gala

Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic
Łukasz Borowicz – conductor

The starry Czech soprano Zuzana Marková and famous British baritone Simon Keenlyside will perform at the opera gala in Prostějov. We know both of them from the Prague concerts of the Nachtigall Artists agency, however they will visit Moravia for the first time. Soprano Zuzana Marková has achieved what only a few Czech artists have achieved: she established herself in Italy as a celebrated interpreter of the Italian roles. She is especially sought after as Violetta (La traviata), she is a guest in many Italian theaters, but also in the Paris Opera, the Vienna State Opera, the Berlin State Opera, in Los Angeles and at festivals in Wexford and Avignon. She has just completed a major tour of Britain with tenor Andrea Bocelli.

Baritone Simon Keenlyside has been a fixture of the opera scene for many years. He is loved by the audience of the biggest opera stages and concert stages, especially in the Vienna State Opera, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Since his recital in Milan's La Scala in 1998, he has also intensively devoted himself to the concert repertoire, with which he performs almost all over the world. In June 2018, Queen Elizabeth II. knighted Sir Simon Keenlyside.

Both artists will be accompanied by Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic under the baton of the renowned Polish conductor Łukasz Borowicz.

The concert on the occasion of the presidency of the Czech Republic in the Council of the EU is held under the auspices of the mayor of Prostějov, Mgr. František Jura and the Governor of the Olomouc Region Ing. Josef Suchánek.

Tickets available at the Municipal Theatre Prostějov.
