Ekaterine BuachidzeWinner of 2025 Operalia

Ekaterine Buachidze – mezzo-soprano
Kurt Mitterfellner – violin
Kateřina Ochmanová – piano

The Association of Friends of Musical Talents is bringing to Prague another rising star of the opera world – Georgian mezzo-soprano Ekaterine Buachidze, this year’s winner of Plácido Domingo’s Operalia competition. Her electrifying performance of Rossini’s aria Nacqui all’affanno from La Cenerentola captivated both the jury and the audience, earning her not only the Main Prize but also the Zarzuela Prize and the Rolex Award. From the very beginning, Ekaterine was the personal favorite of Alena Kunertová, and we are delighted that her expectations have been fully realized. We are proud to present Ekaterine in Prague as one of today’s most dazzling and promising new operatic talents, accompanied by the outstanding Czech pianist Kateřina Ochmanová.

Ekaterine Buachidze has devoted herself to music since early childhood. After studying at the Vano Sarajishvili State Conservatoire in Tbilisi, she appeared in concerts performing famous Rossini arias, including excerpts from La Cenerentola and Il barbiere di Siviglia. She won Second Prize in the Aria category at the Black Sea International Competition – Opera’s Golden Voice. In 2023, she joined the Fabbrica Young Artist Program at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, where she made her debut as Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly and later appeared as Flora in La Traviata. In 2024, she won the “Tebaldi–Gigli–Corelli” Competition in Pesaro, receiving three special awards. That same summer, she made her debut at the Arena di Verona as Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia. Since September 2024, she has been a member of the Opera Studio of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, where she continues to develop her career.

The concert, held in the historic setting of Prague’s New Town Hall, will feature a selection of arias and songs. The detailed program will be announced soon.

Patronage of the project was granted by the Minister of Culture of the Czech Republic.
