Serena Sáenz

Serena Sáenz – soprano
Ahmad Hedar – piano

The Spanish soprano Serena Sáenz is a proud holder of three prizes from the prestigious Plácido Domingo Operalia 2022 competition: second prize, the prize of the famous Spanish singer Pepita Embil in the Zarzuela Category, and the Birgit Nilsson Prize. Pepita Embil was called the queen of zarzuela; Serena certainly deserves the title of princess.

However, she shines – in spite of her youth – also on important stages in major operatic roles, such as Norina (Don Pasquale), Lucia di Lammermoor, and Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos) at the Vienna State Opera, or Frasquita (Carmen) at the Berlin State Opera.

Serena Sáenz was born in 1994 in Barcelona. She made her stage debut at the age of 13 in Hans Krása's children opera Brundibár at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. In addition to studying music, Serena has studied ballet and modern dance and is professionally trained as a fitness trainer. In Prague, he will perform with the excellent pianist Ahmad Hedar.
