Petr Nekoranec
Petr Nekoranec is a Czech tenor widely regarded as one of the leading singers of his generation. He will open the 2026/27 season with his London debut in Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle with the Monteverdi Choir and Orchestra, followed by a tour of several French theatres, including the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and Opéra de Montpellier, as Jason in a concert performance of Charpentier’s Médée. In October, he will take on the title role in Rossini’s Le Comte Ory in the opera’s first-ever Prague production. He will also appear in Geneva in a staged production of Janáček’s The Diary of One Who Disappeared and perform Bach’s Magnificat at the Festival International Bach Montréal. At the beginning of 2027, Nekoranec will return to the stage as Don Ottavio in a new production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni in Brno and as the Shepherd in Szymanowski’s King Roger in Gdańsk. He will also make his debut at Deutsche Oper Berlin in a staged production of Bach’s St Matthew Passion. The final months of the season will be devoted largely to engagements in France, including roles of Thespis and Mercury in Rameau’s Platée at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Atelier Lyrique de Tourcoing and Opéra de Rennes; Les Indes galantes at Opéra de Dijon; and the role of Grimoaldo in a concert performance of Handel’s Rodelinda at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence.
During the 2025/2026 season, he appeared in Cavalli’s La Calisto with Ensemble Correspondances under Sébastien Daucé, performing in Nantes and on a tour across France, including a return to the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. He also returned to the Parisian venue in a Vivaldi programme with Les Musiciens du Louvre and Marc Minkowski, and made his debut at the Theater an der Wien as Sospiro in Gassmann’s L’opera seria. His recent concert engagements include a recording of Britten’s Les Illuminations and Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, a performance of Janáček’s The Diary of One Who Disappeared at the Opéra de Lille, and Dvořák’s oratorio Stabat Mater with the Prague Symphony Orchestra. Recent career highlights also include his debut as Faust in Berlioz’s La Damnation de Faust at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in 2025, as well as first appearances at the Polish National Opera, Berlin State Opera, and Queensland Opera in Brisbane. He has also guested at Teatro Real Madrid, the opera houses of Lille and Lyon, and with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Since the 2021/2022 season, he has been a soloist of the National Theatre Prague, where his repertoire includes Rodolfo, Almaviva, Tamino, Ferrando, Roméo, Don Ottavio, and Nemorino. Notably, collaborated with leading orchestras and conductors, including Jiří Bělohlávek, James Levine, Oxana Lyniv, and Marco Armiliato.
Nekoranec was the first Czech selected for the Lindemann Program at the Metropolitan Opera (2016), was also a member of Bavarian State Opera studio where he won the Bavarian Art Prize in 2016 and received the Classic Prague Awards Talent of the Year (2018). He is a laureate of major European competitions, including the absolute winner of the Francesco Viñas International Competition (2017). He studied at Pardubice Conservatory with Jarmila Chaloupková and collaborates with tenor Antonio Carangelo. His discography includes French Arias (2019) and Janáček’s The Diary of One Who Disappeared (2025).
