Armand Rabotbaryton

As part of the popular “World Opera Talents” series at the New Town Hall, we present another remarkable young singer on the threshold of an international career. British-Sri Lankan baritone Armand Rabot is currently a member of the Opera Studio of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. In 2025, he was selected for the prestigious Academy of the Aix-en-Provence Festival, following his participation in the Salzburg Festival’s Young Singers Project in 2024 — completing an exceptional trio of elite training programmes.

He studies with British tenor Ben Johnson, professor at the Royal College of Music in London. In June 2023, Armand was awarded the Grange Festival Prize, and later that year he achieved further major success at the international Hurn Court Opera Singer of the Year Competition in London, where he won both First Prize and the Audience Prize. This year, he is preparing to take part in Plácido Domingo’s Operalia — and we wish him every success.

He has already appeared in several operatic roles at the Bavarian State Opera and the Salzburg Festival, while also maintaining an active concert career. In recital, he collaborates with the legendary vocal accompanist Graham Johnson.

Armand will be joined by pianist Kristina Marková Stepasjuková, an accomplished soloist and chamber musician who performs at festivals in the Czech Republic and abroad. She has appeared with leading Czech orchestras, including the Chamber Philharmonic Pardubice, the Hradec Králové Philharmonic, the Pilsen Philharmonic, and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra Academy.
