Mariusz Kwiecień – baritone
Baritone Mariusz Kwiecień – the most famous Pole in the opera world, as the Czech music journal Harmonie called him – has received acclaim in all the leading opera houses in Europe and North America, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York and Covent Garden in London. A native of Krakow and a graduate of the Warsaw Academy, he was a member of the prestigious Lindemann Young Artist Program at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, which opened him the way to a world-class singing career. In September 2020 he announced his retirement from singing due to recurrent back problems, and became Artistic Director of the Wroclaw Opera (until 2 March 2023). He is also dedicated to young artists as a teacher at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Krakow.
Mariusz Kwiecień has performed in Prague several times at the invitation of the Nachtigall Artist Agency, to great acclaim, including his masterclasses at the New Town Hall. This time, he will work with more experienced talented singers preparing for major singing competitions in a three-hour masterclass. The next masterclasses with Mariusz Kwiecień will take place on 4 and 5 May at the Jan Deyl Conservatoire and students from other conservatories can also participate.
The Masterclass on 3 May at the New Town Hall is free to all interested members of the audience!
