The New Town Hall has become too small for our traditional Advent concert, and so this year we are moving to the Dvořák Hall of the Rudolfinum. The capacity of our previous venue was no longer sufficient, and we truly wish for you to enjoy the beginning of Advent with us to the fullest.
On the very threshold of Advent, we would like to delight you, make you smile, and perhaps even invite you to pause for a moment. In keeping with tradition, the evening will be hosted by the tenor Petr Nekoranec. We have also invited other wonderful singers and musicians.
There is hardly any need to introduce Mattia Olivieri at length: he is a regular guest of Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, and the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Audiences admire him as Figaro in Hamburg and as Eugene Onegin in Santa Fe.
Petr recently made his debut at the Theater an der Wien as Sospiro in L'opera seria by Florian Leopold Gassmann and stepped in for Benjamin Bernheim in La Damnation de Faust at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.
Joining our stage for the first time will be the young Polish bass Paweł Horodyski, a soloist of the Bavarian State Opera, where he is steadily building his reputation in smaller roles.
This year’s concert will also feature a distinctive format. The concert will begin as early as 6 p.m., will be performed without an intermission, and we hope that the whole family will enjoy this Advent Sunday together. At the piano will be the charismatic Michele d’Elia, vocal coach of the Accademia Teatro alla Scala. We will also welcome the Radost Children’s Choir and the Jazz Band of Matěj Benko. The youngest operatic talents, selected together with Mariusz Kwiecień from among students of music schools, will, as usual, also take part.
The programme we have prepared will warm the heart and bring a true Advent atmosphere. Alongside beloved operatic melodies, you will hear Advent songs from various corners of the world. We promise that the Rudolfinum will resonate not only with music, but with joy.
Patronage of the project was granted by the Minister of Culture of the Czech Republic.
