Arnheidur Eiriksdottir

Icelandic mezzo-soprano Arnheiður Eiríksdóttir in the upcoming 2026/27 season, she will add the role of Mélisande in Pelléas et Mélisande to her repertoire in a production directed by Christoph Loy at her home National Theatre in Prague, as well as Idamante in Mozart’s Idomeneo and Dido in Purcell´s Dido and Aeneas. She will also perform the role of Isolier in Prague´s first-ever production of Rossini’s Le Comte Ory, organised by the Nachtigall Artits Management. Other highlights of the season include Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Tomáš Hanus, as well as Dvořák’s Biblical Songs with the Prague Philharmonia and Petr Altrichter.

In previous seasons, she has also appeared as a guest at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, the Norwegian National Opera in Bergen, the Daegu Opera House in South Korea, the Cologne Opera, and the Icelandic Opera in Reykjavík. On concert stage, she has performed with the Czech Philharmonic, the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Philharmonia, the South Bohemian Philharmonic in České Budějovice, the Chamber Philharmonic Pardubice, the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic, the Gürzenich Orchestra in Cologne, EinKlang Philharmonie in Münster, the Košice Philharmonic, and the Silesian Philharmonic.

Eiríksdóttir received the Rising Star award at the prestigious International Opera Awards in September 2024. In September 2023, she won the Thalia Award for her portrayal of Octavian (Strauss: Der Rosenkavalier) at the National Theatre Opera in Prague, where she has been a soloist since September 2020. On this stage, in addition to Octavian, she has appeared as the Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos, Charlotte in Werther, Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel, Dorabella in Così fan tutte, Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, Varvara in Káťa Kabanová, and in other roles.

Arnheiður studied at the Conservatory in Reykjavík and earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, where she also continued her master’s studies. From 2018 to 2020, she was a member of the Opera Studio of Cologne Opera.
