Lada Bočková
Lada Bočková is one of the outstanding talents of the emerging generation of Czech sopranos. She will open the 2026/27 season at the Zlatá Pecka Festival, where she will perform with the Hradec Králové Philharmonic under the baton of Petr Altrichter. At the Janáček Brno Festival, she will take on the role of Krista in Janáček’s opera The Makropulos Affair, directed by David Radok and conducted by Robert Kružík. She will also return to Janáček this season as Jenůfa—first in concert performance in Bamberg under the musical direction of Jakub Hrůša, and subsequently in a staged production in Brno. She will also return to the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava as Anai (Rossini: Moses and Pharaoh), to the South Bohemian Theatre in České Budějovice as Anne Frank in G. S. Frid’s monodrama The Diary of Anne Frank, to the National Theatre in Prague as Pamina (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte) and Gretel (Humperdinck: Hansel und Gretel), and to the Moravian Theatre Olomouc as Violetta (Verdi: La traviata). In February 2027, she will make her Spanish debut at Ópera de Oviedo, where she will perform the role of Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Così fan tutte.
During the 2025/26 season, she appeared at the National Theatre in Prague as Mozart’s Pamina and Humperdinck’s Gretel, and at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre as Fox (Janáček: The Cunning Little Vixen), Elena (Rota: The Florentine Straw Hat) and Anai in a new production of Rossini’s Moses and Pharaoh. At the South Bohemian Theatre in České Budějovice, she portrayed Anne Frank.
Her significant operatic achievements in previous seasons have also included Karolina (Smetana: The Two Widows) at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre, Fox and Violetta (La traviata) at Theater Magdeburg, Karolina (The Two Widows) at the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen, and Violetta at the Moravian Theatre Olomouc. As Clorinda, she joined the Prague Philharmonia under the baton of Łukasz Borowicz for a concert performance of Rossini’s La Cenerentola at Prague’s Smetana Hall.
On the concert stage, she has collaborated with the Prague Symphony Orchestra (Webber’s Requiem, Mahler’s Symphony No. 4, Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 2 in B flat major, Op. 52, and Haydn’s Die Schöpfung), the Brno Philharmonic (Haydn’s Die Schöpfung) and the Slovak Philharmonic (Mahler’s Symphony No. 4). She performed alongside Andrea Bocelli with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra at a Christmas concert in Malta and made her US debut at a concert with Joseph Calleja at BroadStage in California.
From 2020 to 2023, she was a member of the opera ensemble at Theater Bonn in Germany, where she successfully performed a number of roles, including Oscar (Un ballo in maschera), Susanna (Le nozze de Figaro, Gretel (Hansel und Gretel), Clorinda (La Cenerentola), Nerone (Agrippina) and the title role in Cavalli’s opera La Calisto. In 2024, she returned to Theater Bonn as Laudine (Iwein Löwenritter). In March 2022, she made her debut as Tebaldo in a new production of Don Carlo, directed by Robert Carsen, at the Aalto Theater in Essen.
A graduate of the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno, she joined the opera studio at Teatro Lirico Spoleto in April 2017, where she performed, among other roles, Frasquita (Carmen) and Violetta (La traviata), as well as Clorinda (La Cenerentola) as part of the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto. In 2018, she appeared as Olga (The Merry Widow) at Teatro La Fenice in Venice and as Despina (Così fan tutte) at the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava. In 2019, she became the first Czech singer in history to participate in two major international vocal competitions: Plácido Domingo’s Operalia and the Queen Sonja International Music Competition in Oslo. She is also a laureate of the Czech Philharmonic Interpretation Competition in Prague, the Hilde Zadek Competition and the Otto Edelmann Competition in Austria, as well as the “SWR Junge Opernstars” competition with the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie in Germany.
